Roy Callan
Baron Roy begins his seventh season at the helm of Camp Haiastan after succeeding our founding Executive Director of more than twenty years, Bob Avakian in 2004. Baron Roy has over thirty years combined experience in the fields of education, private business and Armenian community involvement that includes Armenian camping, religious education, A.Y.F. Junior youth leadership, athletic coaching and facility management. Baron Roy lives in Franklin, MA near Camp Haiastan with his wife of thirty-three years Yerchanig, affectionately known around camp as “Digeen Joy”. All three Callan children, Dikran 30, Vahan 29 and Knar 26, are past members of the Detroit Kopernik Tandourjian A.Y.F. Jr. and Senior Chapters and all attended Camp Haiastan for a combined 15 seasons and both Knar and Vahan are past staffers.

Margo Dinkjian
Welcome to AYF Camp Haiastan Digeen Margo!
The Camp Haiastan Board of Directors is excited to announce the hiring of Margo Dinkjian of Fort Lee, New Jersey as our new Camp Director. Digeen Margo comes to us with a wealth of experience and talent as a career educator as well as a long time supporter of the camp. Margo’s children Simone`, Kyle and Arev have been past campers for many seasons. Simone` and Kyle have served on our staff and this season Arev will join her brother Kyle and her mom for her first season on our staff. We all look forward to 2010 being the beginning of many seasons to come with Digeen Margo at the helm of the summer camp.
Margo Sarkisian-Dinkjian has been a preschool, elementary and middle school educator for the past fourteen years. In addition to teaching, Margo has been actively involved in the Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Church, serving in the capacities of Trustee, Corresponding Secretary, and presently the Ladies’ Guild Co-President. Margo is also the Co-Chair of the Greater NJ area’s AYF Alumni Association. In addition to her dedication to the Armenian community, she is also committed to the Fort Lee, NJ community, where she is an active member of the Fort Lee High School PTA and Athletic Booster Club.
Margo and her family have had a long-standing relationship with and love for Camp Haiastan a place that they refer to as “the greatest place on earth”. Each summer, Margo’s husband, Ara, volunteers his time and musical talent to perform for the Camp dances. Margo has been working closely over the off-season with the Baron Peter Jelalian, our beloved past camp director of many seasons, to help make her first season as smooth as possible. Margo is enthusiastic about getting to know the campers and working with the Camp staff for yet another great Camp season!
Day Camp Director
Ani Changelian
Welcome to Camp Haiastan Day Camp Ungerhouhi Ani!
The Camp Haiastan Board of Directors is excited to announce the hiring of Ani Changelian of Bedford, MA as our new Day Camp Director. We cannot mention Day Camp without also including the name Nevart Mikaelian in the discussion. Ungerouhi Nevart has been our dedicated Day Camp Director for the past four seasons and since the inception of Day Camp in 2006. Nevart is taking this season off after the birth of her second child Anoush this spring.
Ungerhouhi Ani is a wife (Andrew Changelian), mother of two and Kindergarten teacher at St. Stephen’s Armenian Elementary School in Watertown, MA for the past four years. In addtion to her professional teaching experience, Ani has v0lunteered for the past 13 years as a third grade Sunday School teacher at St. Stephen’s Armenian Church in Watertown, MA. Using guidance from Ungerhouhi Nevart, drawing upon her many years of elementary teaching experience as well as her eight years of attendance as a Camp Haiastan camper, Ani is confident that Day Camp 2010 under her direction will be one of the best.
